Little known fact: the term ‘We was Robbed’ was invented by irate Xena fans following the character’s death in her series’ finale. The episode was written by the show’s executive producer, Robert Tapert, whose first name gave us the now-legendary verb.
To this day, whenever a queer female-identified character is killed off a television series, fans will angrily announce ‘We was Robbed!’
Unfortunately, no one copyrighted the term, so the Family have not only been ‘Robbed’ of media representation, we’ve missed out on nearly two decades of serious payback.
Robbed, indeed.
