JK Rowling only said Dumbledore was gay because there weren’t any risks, the books were finished. Now she’s decided they aren’t, there are risks again and she’s chosen the same spineless path she’s used to. She is no LGBTQ ally.

This isn’t new in the movie industry. Think of all the Marvel movies with bi characters they refuse to let show an interest in the same gender on screen. Many book to screen adaptations of movies (even when the character is explicitly gay on page) make the character straight instead (ex Martian Child, Isolation, fried green tomatoes).

It isn’t a Harry Potter thing it’s a straight people thing. They’ll tolerate us and SAY they accept us but they don’t want to see us. They don’t really. I lost faith in the world caring about us a long time ago. People are only on your side when it’s convenient for them and that’s the truth. I’ve given up holding my breath just so they can let me down again. It will never get to the point where we are truly treated as equals. Not in our lifetime.

All we can do is keep fighting for the next generation. And hope someone someday isn’t let down.
