Are there aliens from space doc? are we alone in the universe?

I find it highly unlikely that we could ever find a species similar to our own – we developed under very specific circumstances and the likelihood of that very same process being replicated elsewhere has to be close to nil.  Could there be intelligent life under another form? Of course. We have it on this planet, too. Are we likely to be able to know of it or communicate with it?  No idea.  I’m going to lean toward No.  Could there be intelligent life that utilises technology similar to our own?  No idea.  Again, we evolved under specific circumstances and I don’t think there is much hope that what evolved with us – our technology – could be replicated, either.

But who knows?  Perhaps our universe is much like described in that ST:TNG episode where all bipedal life forms evolved from one primary species that ‘seeded’ various worlds with their DNA.

Or perhaps there is a ‘god’ and it has created all sorts of variations of ‘humankind’ or other intelligent species elsewhere and it’s just a matter of time before we collide with them.

Whatever the case, I hope our own species can evolve a little further intelligence before we start interacting with others (the film Arrival gave an interesting depiction of what this might look like).

Honest to god doc you know what? You’ve written some really sweet and encouraging things on my stories and I’ve seen what you’ve written for others and it’s always very nice and encouraging or insightful and wow holy crap you go and write this great story and people are missing out but just to be rude like that I can’t stand it. The Flame isn’t boring at all it’s fun and deep and you deserve better than that. I’d give you more kudos if I could. You rock.

Thank you for the kindness, it is much appreciated.

hey i’ll be sad if you don’t finish the story cuz there is so much going on its like a novel! Lexa is really complicated but you’ve also kept to the main things about them like all those unseen connections where they’ve met but don’t know or remember are just like fated to be toghter. and i theres all thsoe other layers of quantum whatevers like how Becca started it all (kind of?) and how it bring so many different threads together. Please don’t give up on this. I love it. I hope others read it.

This is very nice of you to write, thank you.  I appreciate that you’ve found something in it that you enjoy and took a chance with it.  Thank you for supporting it.

art in Mount Weather

Makes you wonder how those who founded Mt. Weather knew the end of the world was coming, decided to collect all the art they could (are they supposed to be the originals, how were they obtained, how long before the end have they been there?) and preserve it in the mountain.

Sadly, it’s all gone now, so.

I would like to read how the dregs of humanity that have survived have no real consideration of the world before, so all that we once accomplished now means nothing.  Art, music, film, literature – it’s all gone in this series, but there’s hardly any conversation about it (we got hints of culture within Polis – Lexa reads and has some statuary in her room – would have been interesting to explore what the Grounders really knew of the world before the bombs and if they had a connection to arts of the past).

The emphasis on ‘survival’ vs. having something to live for – that’s a narrative disconnect I’d like to see healed.

[1/2] i was gonna pass up on the bold type ‘cos i thought the show was gonna be like a millenial devil wears prada tv series, but i couldn’t have been more wrong. tbh i only watched the first few episodes for the wlw pairing, but i ended up enjoying the show (and the other characters) more than i thought i would. the friendship of the three young women is the core of the show, and i love how supportive they are to each other.

[2/2] i love how the wlw relationship (kat+adena) is treated like any other relationship: with problems, struggles, miscommunication, and of course heartfelt romantic moments. it’s a breath of fresh air and a light-hearted change of pace from how dramatic and tragic wlw are often portrayed on tv.

I’ve seen lots of positive commentary on the series, I will likely look it up in the near-future.  Thanks for the recommendation.
