Hi Doctor! I don’t write much & i’m pretty lazy about commenting but i’d like to tell you I think The Flame & the Dame & your other stories are pretty good & I’m sorry if you’re not going to continue I hope you change your mind & come back & I hope more people find & read you. Best wishes to you.

I’m so sorry I’ve taken a while to answer this, I don’t know what to say sometimes.  I really don’t expect readers or comments at all, so finding one or two or three is always a lovely surprise. Thank you for yours, I’m very pleased if you found something in them that you enjoyed.

Now, I’ve not abandoned the piece, I am working on it, but it’s a snail’s pace and I’m always finding something, and there’s so many other things going on.  I did post a prequel/prologue of sorts to fill in the gap a bit while I’m trying to get new chapters done.

Thank you again and best to you as well.

What does your perfect world look like?

A bit of the Trossachs, Snowdonia and Newfoundland thrown together, my dogs, my sisters and their kids, Happy Queers, an endless library, no factories, no autos, no noise, maybe a train, proper accommodations everywhere for those with every sort of disability or impairment, a small sporting area for light sabre battles and biannual cosplay events (with holodecks available), a faithful reproduction of Rivendell but with Amazons, a science and aeronautics ‘village’ with dedicated geniuses designing intergalactic transport for when it is Time to Leave This Place and Benes chip shop.

Since we live in an alternate reality, we enjoy different telly:

  • Xena is now in her 21st season
  • Clarke and Lexa are leading the Coalition into a new, peaceful era – and Raven’s managed to setup wifi for everyone
  • The Doctor has always been a woman. Except that One Time
  • The Hermione Granger films are still very popular
  • The L-Word is a chat show dedicated to all things Lexa
  • There is a 24-hour w/w channel featuring productions of @Steklir’s More Women Than Warriors, @entirelytookeen’s The White Queen Running, @femininenachos‘ Don’t Want to Be Your Girl and so much more.  Sundays are dedicated entirely to short films based upon @coeurdastronaute‘s prompts and @unicyclehippo‘s various head cannons.

Howdy Doc can you tell us what was in the briefcase the man on the train was carrying? Is that what exploded? Will Clarke and Lexa remember this event later on sometime? Its sad if they don’t know but I kind of like it too? Like it adds something? Anywhoo please update soon!

Since this is a film/detective noir, I’d wager the item was a MacGuffin.  It isn’t what exploded, however.  I could be wrong, though.

It’s doubtful they will remember meeting, but it might very well come up that they were both on the train when it exploded.  I agree that not knowing sometimes adds a dimension to their relationship that might give the reader more to imagine or angst over.

I am working on the next update(s) as my insomnia allows.

Thank you for reading and for your questions!  🙂

Hi Doc! Since you are open about your own autism, do you mind my asking if any of the characters in your fic are autistic? Lexa gets written that way sometimes and I can see where she might be in this fic but hope not offending or anything I’m diagnosed too and think we need more autistic characters out there. Thank you.

While you won’t read a ‘diagnosis’ as such within the story (Lexa is a cyborg in an alternate 1932 after all and that complicates things a bit), I do often interpret Lexa this way (yes, within this story, too) and see no harm in anyone finding whatever they need in these characters.  Thank you so much for reading and your great question.

Where’s Xena?

I wonder if the ‘Amazons’ series that was set for The CW (and now scrapped) was part of any consideration about holding back on a new Xena series. Certainly, Wonder Woman and whether it would be a success or not must have been part of the conversation, but I hope that it now shows women-led productions are capable of making money and there is a strong interest in such programming.

I hope someone is looking at giving it another go.

Though, in the name of all that is good in this world (ahem), please don’t give it to the CW.
