theory time DOC have you seen the DNR spoilers? Whatcha think?

I love how I get these as if I’ve ever had a correct theory about ANYTHING.

Yes, I’ve seen the photos now and all I can say is probably what others are saying: it looks like Raven is trying to solve a Big Problem and is likely hallucinating a conversation with Becca to help herself.

Clarke back in the old Commander gear suggests she’s probably going to ascend and the Grounders are probably all grumbly about it but Roan and Indra and some of the other ambassadors look like they’re agreeing on something, so, she probably does take the Flame again.  I think this has been assumed for awhile now.  Clarke unites all of their people.  Or something.

Now that I’ve written this, everything will turn out to be completely wrong.  :-p

Hi Doc! this last update really brought the plot together for me & that Clexa moment was kinda bittersweet? I think Clarke knows Lexa was the one who rescued her & her mom? Are we gonna see raven soon? you said you want wait b4 posting again but dont wait too long!

I’m glad if it’s starting to make sense to someone.   I’m not sure Clarke actually knows, but she suspects (she’s a clever clogs).  Raven should be in the next chapter.

Its TIME doc, so who is going to be the next Doctor Who? Are you following the hype?

I’ve not been following the ‘hype,’ no, sorry. The show just hasn’t really caught my attention in quite a while, not for storytelling or much else.  I’ve enjoyed bits and pieces of it (12 x Clara were an interesting team, I appreciated Clara’s send-off), but I feel it really needs a huge revamping if it is going to survive.  I’m wary of Chibnall, I wish there was more diversity in the production team, and I’m wary of the BBC just throwing the usual at us (avuncular white male).

I’ve been curious about someone like Tilda Swinton in the role because I like the idea of a female Doctor, but I also like the idea of a non-binary Doctor, too.  Someone who could emphasise the Doctor’s ‘alien-ness,’ if you like.  I’m all for a Doctor who isn’t British.  Or White.  I think a younger Doctor is fine.  An older one is good, too.  I’m wary that if we get someone truly different, the production team won’t have good enough stories or the production values won’t be there.

My avatar is Michelle Dockery as Susan Sto Helit in Hogfather.  Her performance in that made me think she’d be quite good as The Doctor.   Sophie Wu is another younger actress who I think is quite good and might make interesting choices in performance.

I’ve a few others I think might be good, but totally won’t happen (LUCY LAWLESS), so won’t mention (LUCY LAWLESS) – I do hope whomever they choose it is a relative unknown, someone who can bring something fresh, vital to the part, something we haven’t experienced before.  It’s going to be important (that this person is likely already cast, well – we’ll see).

hi doc, you don’t post much anymore and was hoping for that Lexa essay, it sounded good. How you doing?

Lexa took a backseat to work things (and a bonkers bit of FF), sorry, it will happen in time.  Doing my best, thanks – hope you are well, too.  I’ll put one thing up that I was last working on, regarding this scene:

There is so much discussion about the emotion in this scene, how Lexa essentially breaks down, under the weight of hopelessness, her love for Clarke and her impending loss.  What I think gets missed in that discussion is how this reveals how truly sorry she is for what happened.  For the decisions she had to make that hurt Clarke personally (something she only realised when Clarke held a knife to her throat), for all the feeling she couldn’t share or show before, for what she must feel as her own personal failure to put things right.

Lexa is in love, of course, and she is sad and she is lonely – but she is also full of regret and can never ask for forgiveness. Holding back the ‘I love you’ isn’t just about protecting Clarke’s feelings (that she won’t share them or feel obligated to return them), it’s also because Lexa, in her regrets, does not think she is worthy enough to say them.

Pop Quiz: An angel appears and you are told The Secret of Life. You can keep it to yourself or share it with one other person, but if you do, you will forget it and wander the Earth alone and unloved until the day you die.

If an angel actually showed up at my door to give me, of all people on this planet, that particular information, I’d ask it what’s to stop me from tweeting the thing or writing it down in a blog post so everyone could know and if I forget, there’d be reminders and I’m already walking this Earth alone and unloved so who cares, Angel, really?  Who cares?
