hey i’ll be sad if you don’t finish the story cuz there is so much going on its like a novel! Lexa is really complicated but you’ve also kept to the main things about them like all those unseen connections where they’ve met but don’t know or remember are just like fated to be toghter. and i theres all thsoe other layers of quantum whatevers like how Becca started it all (kind of?) and how it bring so many different threads together. Please don’t give up on this. I love it. I hope others read it.

This is very nice of you to write, thank you.  I appreciate that you’ve found something in it that you enjoy and took a chance with it.  Thank you for supporting it.

[1/2] i was gonna pass up on the bold type ‘cos i thought the show was gonna be like a millenial devil wears prada tv series, but i couldn’t have been more wrong. tbh i only watched the first few episodes for the wlw pairing, but i ended up enjoying the show (and the other characters) more than i thought i would. the friendship of the three young women is the core of the show, and i love how supportive they are to each other.

[2/2] i love how the wlw relationship (kat+adena) is treated like any other relationship: with problems, struggles, miscommunication, and of course heartfelt romantic moments. it’s a breath of fresh air and a light-hearted change of pace from how dramatic and tragic wlw are often portrayed on tv.

I’ve seen lots of positive commentary on the series, I will likely look it up in the near-future.  Thanks for the recommendation.

Hi Doc i’m commiserating over the no Xena reboot too it’s such a shame and I hate it so much because this time right now is like the BEST time to do it. If they wait like another five years it won’t be the same. We’ll be burned out with Wonder Woman or whatever they give us. This is IT and they’ve thrwn it away. So I wanna ask like they want to KNOW, so how would YOU do it? If you had the job how would it get done?

This isn’t at ALL an alarming ask, so I’ve had to have a think.

There’s a need for resolve from the original ending, to please everyone and to reaffirm the importance of Xena and Gabrielle’s relationship. It’s the heart of the show, so start there. I would have liked to see a six-episode mini-series: set 15 years after Xena’s death, we see how Gabrielle fared, what her life is like, etc.  I like the idea of her returning to the Amazons to rebuild the nation. Nero is the evil emperor this time around.  SOMETHING HAPPENS and Xena returns and the first two of the six episodes are about this reunion, with a happy conclusion.  Lucy and Renee returning, of course.

The following four episodes would reiterate the soulmate theme as we move through the centuries, basically creating ‘uber’ stories (like the Xena Scrolls episode).  Visit them in the 19th century.  The 1920s, maybe.  Visit Janice and Mel again, in the 50s, this time.  Each of these episodes though, has to have a tie-in theme that will set us up for the new series.  The easiest thing I can think of is the chakram, how it disappears, reappears, etc.  Lucy and Renee play all these versions as well.

The final episode is set in a post-apocalyptic future, roughly two hundred years before the start of the new series, but in the same timeline.  This episode jump starts us into the new series, to take place in a society that isn’t the usual dystopian P-A, but a world that is rebuilding – so we have a ‘new’ Amazon nation, a ‘new’ Rome, etc – and a new Xena and Gabrielle.  The ‘look’ doesn’t have to be some wildly sci-fi business, but a mix of what we have seen before.

So, there is it, my take.  I’d like to read what others would have done.

did you watch the last Who, Doc? they did better with Bill, she wasn’t just trashed but it was kinda Clara/Ishildur of them. Theories on the next Doctor? I don’t wanna hope too much. I’m sad for missy too that didnt see mright.

I do apologise for such a late reply on this, not sure how I missed it.

I did watch, the finale didn’t leave much of an impression, though I might have to re-watch at some point.  I do hope they bring Bill back – loads of potential there and a shame if she was just a one-and-done for a season.  Black lesbian characters are awfully rare and she was fun to watch.

I agree the Master was wasted (save for Michelle Gomez’ performances), but I think that of most of the female characters.

I’ve no idea what sort of Doctor Whittaker will be, and I like not knowing, really (though I always hope for stronger science fiction in the writing and a sort of alien-ness that never seems to quite happen).  Trying not to have any theories or get my hopes up too high. It’s been awhile since I’ve felt truly invested in it.

Still, I’m delighted for such a major change.  It was awful being mocked over the possibility of a female Doctor when I was a teen, and this feels like a long fight that paid off.  I wish them success.

why does wynonna earp make you nervous??

I said last year that the WE team must have written a bible based on the Clexa debacle about How To Keep Your Queer Audience, because they seem to tick off little boxes:

  • Clexa fans wanted ET/ADC to have a photoshoot, do interviews together, be seen together more.
  • WE: Check. Wayhaught not only do photo shoots together, they tweet one another in character almost and appear at events like Clexacon and ComicCon together.

There’s some studied dedication to ensuring their queer fans are watching and happy.   I suppose this should make me want to watch, but it doesn’t somehow. There’s something offputting about a straight showrunner catering content for us. I’d like to know if there are any queer writers/producers on the show.  Is the WE team doing more to help elevate actual queer voices and talent – or is it just for themselves?

Not that this is a necessary thing, but if you’re putting yourself out there as this Big Ally, it must be for more than just promoting your programme or yourself, right?  I admit my thoughts on this might be muddy and I might not have the full picture.

I do appreciate the fan interaction though and maybe I’m just missing out or too old.

I’d really love to have Xena back, though.
