I know some here have trouble with anxiety, depression and other forms of mental illness or live along the spectrum, and I get quite a few asks about coping mechanisms.
Going into a lot of detail (as I often do) can be triggering for some, so I’ll stick to something simple that might be useful if you’re not aware of it.
If you have access, visit Youtube and type in ASMR videos. You will find thousands. These videos are produced in order to create a calming effect on the viewer through the manipulation of sounds (and, sometimes, imagery). You will find role plays that involve everything from cranial nerve exams to visits to the barber or massage therapy. Softly spoken or whispered, the creators of these videos use their voices in gentle and affirming ways to help their viewers relax and avoid low emotional states.
The kindness of these content creators is staggering and will definitely lift your spirits if you are in need. All it takes is a good pair of headphones and a little will to open yourself to the experiences available.
