seriously though do NOT let bad reviews deter you from seeing a wrinkle in time!!! especially with these negative reviews the movie needs so much more support from audiences and people who will actually appreciate it. let black female directors be successful! let mixed families be shown in media! let children not be sexualized! let positive themes overpower darkness! it’s a wonderful movie and deserves success!

One of the bad reviews that the local news credit said was that it would be enjoyable for children only

That’s like??? The point??? Of a children’s movie???

^^^^ As a children’s novel it pretty much hit all the beats it was supposed to so I can’t for the life of me see why people would love something like Frozen which is devoid of any real plot and whose only successes stems from it being a musical with somewhat catchy songs but not like this which was visually more stunning than Frozen and has a deeper lore to it

Critics are completely out of touch on this one.

I hope it’s a huge success. Help others see it, if you can.

There’s something very important about films about black women and girls being made by black women. It’s a different perspective. It is a reflection as opposed to an interpretation, and I think we get a lot of interpretations about the lives of women that are not coming from women.

The 13th dir. Ava DuVernay (2016)

The 13th chronicles the history of racial inequality in the United States, examining how the country has produced the highest rate of incarceration in the world, with the majority of those imprisoned being African American. The title of the film of course refers to the 13th Amendment to the Constitution: “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States … ”
