Vivian Darkbloom was the name of a Xena fan fiction writer back in the day and she was probably one of the more brilliant, original writers out there (her Mel and Janice stories are some of the best and earliest examples of epic AU writing, and her ‘trailer trash’ series is still hilarious). Here’s a Whoosh article on her contribution to what was then called ‘uber’ fiction in Xena.
Her Xenafiction.net page is still available with links to her stories, all of which I can recommend (even if you’re not familiar with Xena, you’re probably familiar with the tropes associated with her and you’ll certainly find something to connect with).
I’m very pleased that she’s still around, still writing and has even posted one of her classic Xena stories, ‘Infamia’ on AO3. I do hope she chooses to upload more of her Xena fiction so it can be easily found by a new audience, whom I know will love it all.
Lexa and Clarke lead a diplomatic mission to the mysterious Trishanakru.
The trouble is Clarke is distracting, Lexa is very very gay, Raven is a
natural wonder, their hosts won’t stop partying, and the forest is kind
of psychedelic.
The Glowing Forest comes alive in this splendid little piece, as we spend time amongst the merry locals and Clarke and Lexa manage to find some time for themselves.
If you need a little escape, try this trip into the Glowing Forest. You will be very glad you did.

I needed a break from writing angst and my hand slipped. I have created a shamelessly self indulgent canon Clexa AU, with plenty of gratuitous worldbuilding, and eventual smut. This fic was originally inspired by the ‘accidental stimulation’ prompt for Clexa Week 2018. Although it’s incredibly late, I hope it’s still alright to tag it as such.

Please do read and share LS’s lovely and loving story: there’s some delightful world building within the Glowing Forest, character-building within Clarke and Lexa’s complex but beautiful relationship and, yes, the Smut (the really well-written kind).
Many of us know Mo Ryan as a journalist who gave critical backing to the Clexa fandom back in 2016 after Lexa’s death. Mo has also been critical in the #MeToo movement, lending her insight and integrity on stories about Hollywood’s institutionalised system of harassment.
No reason is given for her departure from Variety, but it is certainly their loss. Let’s show her support and give her a follow wherever she goes. We need more like her, not less, especially now.
“I’m nearly done my beers, so
we’re on the same page.”
“Do you like to dance? You’re
pretty nimble out there on the water.”
Lexa chokes on her last sip.
“Dance?”
“Yeah, like move your feet to
the rhythm of the music? Maybe swing your hips, though I doubt you have those
kinds of moves. Has the dancing fad not made it out here to Miller’s Island
yet?”
“It hasn’t made it into my
body. I can’t.”
“No more can’ts and won’ts
and don’ts. This won’t hurt you.” Clarke shuffles to the radio and turns on a
soft jazz station.
“Come on,” Clarke says. She
leans over Lexa and pulls the empty bottle from her hand, placing it on the
table. She can feel Lexa’s eyes all over her as she leans and she’s grateful
for the top she picked out tonight. Her hands extended to pull Lexa from the
couch and by the time Lexa’s standing over her, eyes and lips just a few inches
away, she’s lost her smile and whispers, “I’ll teach you.”
