Give me a few minutes to watch for last minute bids to show up on the Trevor site, and then I’ll reveal the totals!!
You guys are unbelievable!!!
I’ll start from the bottom:
Assassins AU amassed a small $22 dollars, which was initially surprising but made more sense when you consider that anything with bullets flying around these two is bound to be controversial. That will be lowest on my priority list going forward.
Ahead of assassins AU was the Christmas AU, which garnered $25, also understandable because it’s April lol
We start getting into the big bucks now. The canon Fix-it had strong support for most of the auction, but it topped out at $320, which is impressive but not enough. It will still get written though! No worries to those of you who know how much potential the show had and threw away in S3.
Now, for the final two. It was a battle between politics au and masquerade au, the two fics that actually have already been posted so far. Masquerade AU was slow to start but eventually took a thin lead over politics with about an hour to go.
Politics surged back though, and with some impressive donations, Politics was in the lead with $989 with one minute left! Masquerade AU was too far behind, at $831
And then a last minute bid of $158 dollars came in…for masquerade AU.
Masquerade AU and Politics AU tied, thanks to an anonymous last second donation.
Which means I’ll be updating both at the same time!
Like I’ve been saying, all of these fics will be posted eventually, so no worries if yours didn’t accrue the most. The best part about this was that you all amassed a huge $2,345 for The Trevor Project!!
$2,345!!
This fandom is amazing and I’m so happy to be a part of it.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen something like this – such a wonderful idea, all for a great cause – and an amazing number.
Well done, @centuriesofexistence – I hope this is a trend that other creators follow.
Hold up! Just look at her face. Look at that subtle raise of her eyebrows, the tiny, almost imperceptible, quiver of her chin and the intake of breath. The way her lips part and her eyes just gaze longingly with that ‘please-love-me’ stare. It’s like she takes one look at Clarke and time stands still for a sec.
You can almost hear the internal conflict. -‘God your pretty. That face. Those eyes. Those lips. Can I kiss you? I swear you’re an angel. Jok! Pull yourself together Heda!
Love is weakness, except, maybe my love of candles. Wait, what was you saying? Your beauty stumped me-’.
Lexa is so thirsty that straight after this she has to pour herself a drink.
The subtlety and intricacies of ADC’s expressions and the mannerisms within her portrayal of Lexa still amaze me.
I love how I get these as if I’ve ever had a correct theory about ANYTHING.
Yes, I’ve seen the photos now and all I can say is probably what others are saying: it looks like Raven is trying to solve a Big Problem and is likely hallucinating a conversation with Becca to help herself.
Clarke back in the old Commander gear suggests she’s probably going to ascend and the Grounders are probably all grumbly about it but Roan and Indra and some of the other ambassadors look like they’re agreeing on something, so, she probably does take the Flame again. I think this has been assumed for awhile now. Clarke unites all of their people. Or something.
Now that I’ve written this, everything will turn out to be completely wrong. :-p
I’m going to add to this: Clarke assuming Lexa’s role puts her in as dangerous a position as Lexa ever was. She’s not a ruler, she’s not a politician, either. I don’t think her being ‘Commander’ is for much more than show, to get everyone to cooperate. Emotionally, this symbolises a near-permanent joining w/the other Commanders (including Becca and Lexa), as, if she dies with it, her consciousness gets recorded onto the implant as theirs were.
If you wanted a Clexa endgame – this might be as close as you’ll get (also sets up the possibility – being baited in some media – of a return for ADC in s5, if only in Clarke’s head). Don’t get your hopes up for this, though, and don’t see this as a reason to return to support the show, if you’re staying away. I think this was a foregone conclusion from the beginning of s3, really, but it doesn’t undo the trope and it doesn’t make up for what they did (if any of this happens at all – remember I’m rotten with the theory game).
Lexa took a backseat to work things (and a bonkers bit of FF), sorry, it will happen in time. Doing my best, thanks – hope you are well, too. I’ll put one thing up that I was last working on, regarding this scene:
There is so much discussion about the emotion in this scene, how Lexa essentially breaks down, under the weight of hopelessness, her love for Clarke and her impending loss. What I think gets missed in that discussion is how this reveals how truly sorry she is for what happened. For the decisions she had to make that hurt Clarke personally (something she only realised when Clarke held a knife to her throat), for all the feeling she couldn’t share or show before, for what she must feel as her own personal failure to put things right.
Lexa is in love, of course, and she is sad and she is lonely – but she is also full of regret and can never ask for forgiveness. Holding back the ‘I love you’ isn’t just about protecting Clarke’s feelings (that she won’t share them or feel obligated to return them), it’s also because Lexa, in her regrets, does not think she is worthy enough to say them.
