Okay, since I’m seeing the odd snark about ADC not caring about her fans, not being vocal about Clexa: she just accepted an award that could have also been accepted by Eliza Taylor – except Taylor would never be allowed to accept an award that basically calls her show shit for what they did to their fans.
ADC is likely unable, contractually, to do anything that resembles promoting t1oo, and she probably doesn’t want to, either. She seems like a sensitive soul, she’s clearly very intelligent and likely knows that Clexas, for the most part, hate on the show now (not all, I know) and doesn’t want to anger anyone or cause another battle. In that sense, she does seem rather Lexa-like: a peacemaker.
I love Alycia but she really doesn’t get it sometimes. And honestly it seems like sometimes she doesn’t really try to. This is why I like Eliza. She tries so hard to get it and I think in her own way she definitely does. She evens straight up said she supports LGBT even tho some would like her not to. Idk Alycia’s nice and she cares, but she definitely would rather focus on herself and forget about us and Lexa
Here’s the difference between the two. Eliza is in love with Clarke/Lexa/Clexa. Lexa was a piece of art to ADC. That’s it, and it makes all the difference in the world. They are different ppl, who are different actors. And view and approach the art differently.
And one more thing, you gotta think ADC is ready to move on from Lexa. Move way on, far and away. But… can you blame her?
May I add something to this?
Eliza Taylor has a contract and a show to promote. She is also clearly trying to steer the narrative of that show so that no further insult or injury happens to fans. She still has to live and sleep with it all for another year at least and she’s not wasting any public opportunities. It’s smart, but it’s also a little self-serving (but in the right way).
ADC has no such contract and could very well be constrained from doing anything that even smacks of promoting The 100. This is no small thing. And, I can only imagine that this often shy and very private young lady (who has been on the receiving end of plenty of weirdness and privacy violations) has NO desire to do ANYTHING that might cause another shit storm for Clexa fans. She knows they’ve been hurt and she’s never sought to personally benefit from it.
I agree she is likely ready to move on, but maybe she never got to enjoy the fan attention because of what happened. That has to be a bit of a bummer, too.
What the 1OO did to us …
The other day when I was watching Wentworth I knew what was coming. I knew as soon as Bea and Allie showed happiness. I knew when they had their time together, and she got up alone to go to the shower what was coming.
My comment was “they are about to Clexa us”
Even after I happened, I couldn’t even be sad. I was just numb. I knew it was coming, and after Lexa, I can’t really be shocked anymore. I just turned it off and went on about my day.
They have taken away our ability to trust and to enjoy the relationships we see on TV. We just sit back and wait for it.. Wait for us to be “Clexa-ed” again.
this is not a bash on Wentworth. We weren’t baited as with Clexa, and I felt they foreshadowed this many episodes ago. This is a bash against the The 1OO and how they have sucked the hope from the joy of TV relationships.
The people who make telly/film need strong reminders that what they create can be like a beacon to those who have little hope or representation. It can influence, shape imaginations, dogmas and political affiliations. I blame my sense of humour on watching Monty Python and Bugs Bunny and Danger Mouse as a kid. My interest in science and learning might have come from Doctor Who. Television (and film) are powerful and potentially dangerous to the norms and customs of our time.
Maybe it is time for a new crop of content creators to take hold. If I have any hope over what happened with Clexa, et al – it’s that young writers and filmmakers today will take what happened seriously and avoid the traps of arrogance and ignorance that created Clexa in the first place.
No one should lose what little bit of joy we can find in this life because those in control have no concerns for us, for our well-being. We have to take charge of what we see. We are the ones who can make it better.
