Flint residents already pay the highest water rates in the country. Residents paid $864.32 yearly for 60,000 gallons of water in 2015, almost three times the national average. And now their water bill jumped from
$257 to $1,070 in a month.
I just don’t understand what is there even to pay for if they don’t use the water city gives them? They cook with bottled water, take a bath with bottled water , so why do they have to pay these bills? Authorities failed Flint residents three years ago, but they’re still paying for this shitty water. How is this possible?
“I panicked because I can’t pay this,” said the 76-year-old widow and longtime Flint, Michigan resident, one of many who has struggled since dangerous levels of lead were first found in the city’s drinking water almost three years ago.
She takes a quick shower once a week and washes her clothes once a month. The rest of the time she depends on the bottled water the city has provided.
This is the struggle every Flint resident faces on the daily basis and now they have to pay this enormous amount of money for nothing? This is ridiculous. Make those , who poisoned the water pay for this.
