ok i have a story that better inspire y’all cause listen up

child-of-the-sky-people:

I have dyslexia. big woop right? Well I learn a lot slower than mot kids and when I was young no one knew about it cause it was kind of a new concept I think. (It’s kind of the reading dyslexia but it’s also a few other things that fall under dyslexia).

Well in first grade my teacher called me stupid in front of the entire class. Yep, she was that person. She called the dyslexic kid stupid. (now she did many more horrible things which I will probably talk about at a later date cause this woman was HORRIBLE).

Anyways, I’m lucky. I’m lucky to have a mom who encouraged me and told me to do my best and that if I get C’s in school that’s ok.

I have moved across the country so I would get a better education. Because of how I learn and how my brain works, I will always work harder than most people. It is a thing that will always be a part of me.

Now back to my teacher, right? So when this happens (a child being called stupid by their teacher), it can sometimes lead to that child feeling hopeless and failing in school. Like I said, I was lucky. But a lot of it was also me; my own hard work and refusing to live the lies that woman told me

I am going to graduate distinguished this year. I am taking college level classes in high school and doing really well in them. All while being the dyslexic child.

I want this to be proof that no matter who you are and no matter what people tell you, YOU CAN DO BETTER. You can do amazing things and you are not stupid. Don’t let the lies people spit at you become your reality. Because if I can do it, then you can to.

This. ^^^

There are no rules we cannot break or re-write to suit our needs.

Not that this example will apply for everyone, but it’s important for the *world* to know better.  Our education systems can be so damaging and hold back more than they propel forward.  I’m glad you found your way through.  🙂
