Do you mind educating me about Aleppo? Thank you :)
first of all thank you for asking, you have no idea how my heart swells at the thought of an honest soul wanting to know because dear god, i cant even begin to explain. aleppo (halab in arabic) is a city in syria, the most populous syrian governorate. since early 2011, there has been an uprising of anti-government protests that had spread across the middle east, beginning with tunisia, and then egyt, libya, yemen etc.. the core of these protests sets from deep-seated resentment at the aging arab cruel dictatorships (some glossed over with rigged elections), anger at the brutality of the security apparatus, unemployment, rising prices, ad corruption that followed the privatization of state assets in some countries. to put it simply, ppl couldnt take it anymore after decades on sufferings. but then these civilians that took action are portrayed as rebels by the media- its just.. so saddening to see aleppo being slaughtered left and right and none of the arab leaders are doing anything? muslim leaders? anyone?? the UN?? come on now ban ki moon ajussi arent you the secretary-general??
i just… want ppl to know that the free syrian armies are NOT rebels. they are the civilians that are brave enough to take the lead and protect their unarmed brothers and sisters and stop government killings. what the media and western ppl describe as ‘syrian civil war’ which is currently happenign as we speak, is really, a massacre. a genocide, its a war crime. and assad and putin are war criminals.
you can read here to know month-by-month timeline of what the war-torn city has been through in 2016

Bombing continues. I hope they’re ok. This is so frightening.
Please contact your MPs, your reps, media, anyone to help put pressure to stop this genocide.
And the bombing has started again, in spite of the ‘cease fire.’
