do you look at ratings? do you think theyll cancel the100?

I’m not that familiar with American ratings, just very general understanding, but I think a little more than ratings decides whether a programme is renewed or not.  How much support does it have at the network, for example?  My red flag on this programme was the reduction of episodes from 16 to 13, the bad publicity from this past year – and if, possible, any conflicts within the production (which we may never know about), such as actors wanting to leave, etc.

Since the network bought another property from Rothenberg, and Pedowitz showed unconditional support for him last summer, the chances of cancellation are probably 50/50, if other factors are more important than network support.  Yes, they’ll want to see if the viewers are out there, but niche programming like this tends to survive even with a tiny audience.

Just another note on this: the ratings for the first episode and the ratings for the finale will probably be the highest the show sees for the season (and that’s common with many programmes).  Have a look at those when available and see where things are at compared to previous years.

trigger warnings

In the US tonight, a certain programme is premiering, and I’m reminded its very existence is still a trigger for many.  It is not too far gone to say that there are many who suffer a kind of PTSD as a result of last year’s trauma and are still struggling with it.

People will do whatever they want, but if you have a care, please post trigger warnings to your posts.  Thank you.

I was asked to describe The 1oo yesterday to someone who hasn’t watched television since 2006.

I said it was about a post-apocalyptic Paris Gellar dating a post-apocalyptic Rory Gilmore but then Rory dies.

I think this was fairly accurate, yes?

www(.)twitter(.)com/ElianaKohn24/status/819239623402602496 CW is a bunch of sick assholes.

This is really disturbing. More reason NOT TO WATCH and flood the W-B w their nastiness.

SIGNAL BOOST!!!

I’m not familiar with these pages, has anyone else experienced this?  If so, it needs to be dragged into their social media feeds on Twitter and elsewhere.  Make a point of this.  They’ll argue it’s their pages to do what they want – but they’re practicing censorship.  Don’t let them get away with it.

god i felt such rage reading sar’s posts! i don’t blame anyone for sharing it but it hurts so much. its worse now b/c there are clexas BeGGING for them to bring lexa back. i think he’s just going to spit on them. it’s going to make everyone with this show look bad. i just wanted to thnak YOu for being so supportive this last yr. i hope you not watching either.

I hope my reposting it wasn’t a major trigger for you, that wasn’t my intention and hope you’re okay.  I do agree, though, that what happened was so wrong and disrespectful and I do worry about those very fans you mention who are campaigning for Lexa’s return – they’re going to be so disappointed and there is no need for them to be hurt again. I worry, too, that after being so humiliated this past year, he might have written something in just to spite those very fans who helped bring his show such positive attention and acclaim – and who rightly called him out for using and abusing their trust.

I live in Scotland, so no live watching from me, though I’m sure I’ll pay attention to what happens.  One thing to watch out for: any interviews/promotional work the cast/crew does. Regardless of how ‘supportive’ fans might imagine these people to be of Clexa/Lexa, this is their job and there is no reason to discuss Lexa at all – and this is bound to lead to more dragging and disturbance in the (ex?) fandom.  Again, more agony that need not happen.  Anyone harmed by this show, I hope they stay away from all of it.  Thank you for writing and apologies for my rambly response.

Something needs to be said about Raven here.

Raven wanted Lexa dead at one point (probably longer) for Finn’s Death.

Lexa cut Raven with her knife when Raven was accused of trying to poison her.

Yet here Raven is DEFENDING Lexa. If nothing else Raven is putting her personal feeling towards Lexa aside to comfort Clarke and saying that Lexa herself wasn’t an AI that what Clarke and Lexa had were real.

Raven is pretty much saying that Lexa wasn’t Artificial Intelligence, she was a REAL HUMAN BEING and HER FEELINGS WERE VALID!

Raven is amazing, just saying.

I do agree with others on this thread – I don’t think Raven was defending anything. She herself had been attached to an AI and she knew what it was Lexa had attached to her.  She understands it.  Question is: why didn’t Clarke understand the little chip inside Lexa was not Lexa?  Lexa – flesh and blood and bone, who loved her (and who died).  Clarke understands technology, what it can and cannot do.  The line, coming from her, sounded off, as if the writers wanted to suggest that Clarke no longer thought of Lexa as a real person (part of Lexa’s erasure).  If Clarke no longer sees Lexa as a real person, makes it that much easier for her to move on to someone else (crap as that is).

I think it more likely that, if anything, when they were in the CoL, Raven might have seen her interactions with the Lexa there (a digital memory of her, ironically, not the real one), and while she might understand Clarke’s feelings for Lexa, I could picture her telling Clarke – that wasn’t her.  That was the chip. They do not equal the other (imagine if Lexa’s body were revived – it would be separate from the ‘enhanced’ version of her in the CoL.  All sorts of identity headaches would ensue).

PSA: Don’t buy Original FUNKO POPs

haughtstuff:

officialdebnamcarey:

Original FUNKOs means they’ve been licensed by The CW and Jason Rottenwurst Sausage meaning they get money from each purchase.

Buy the custom made ones by fans that have been going on since like S2 Hiatus.

My bitter ass smells desperation for money. I mean, did u see that trailer?

For anyone wondering how this works, this deal happened in one of two ways:

1) (Less likely scenario) Funko pays The CW a fix amount and has distribution rights (and other legal shit) to the Theloo Funko Pops.

2) (what I believe happened bc its more money for TheCW) TheCW gives Funko distribution rights but receives a commission for every order. This would mean that for every purchase, they get like 5%-10% (usually standard cut for artists) of the profit. This option also allows for longetivity so TheCW will keep earning money long after the show ends.

KNOWING HOW BIG OUR FANDOM IS, THEY OBVIOUSLY INCLUDED A LEXA FUNKO EVEN THOUGH SHES MOTHERFUCKING ON A PERMANENT CANDLE CONVENTION LEAVE AND NOT ON THE SHOW BC THEY WANT THE LARGE COMMISSIONS.

The fact that they included a DEAD CHARACTER shows this wasnt done to promote the show but to exploit the Lexa fandom AGAIN.

This is a last ditch effort to squeeze money from the fandom because Lord knows we did serious damage last season to that show.

they did include two dead characters, though–lexa and lincoln. p sure they just picked the characters they thought would sell the best so they’d make the most money, which is what every company everywhere is trying to do. i’m not like adamantly defending them or anything, i just don’t think there’s anybody at funko pop or the cw sitting in a high-backed chair drumming their fingertips together and cackling.

but yeah regardless, the show will make money through this so don’t buy anything if you don’t want to support them.

hey as a pop collector i’m just going to add my piece:

please don’t shame anyone who decides to purchase one of these pops. i know it gives money to these shit people and that’s not ideal, but i know for a lot of people having merch (esp. a funko figure bc they’re so popular) of a character that meant so much to them is a comfort and if having a little lexa with them makes them happy, i’m not gonna be the one to shit on their parade.

and yes, buying custom pops is DEFINITELY a better idea, but keep in mind they often cost $50+ each (i spent $120 in total for my clarke/lexa pair) because of the time and materials it takes to make them. paying that much for a figure isn’t a viable option for everyone.

FYI: there is no official confirmation from Funko over this. The 100 Pops were on their ‘Coming Soon’ list (on their website) up until last summer, when the Lexa debacle went critical.  Then they were removed.  They are still not on ‘coming soon’ nor have they been listed as ‘coming soon’ on their blog or Twitter.  I’ve sent messages two three contacts and no word.  Only a fan blog quoted on Hypable gave this info (with no verification).  I question this report not only for these reasons, but because of who they listed – Bellamy as #1?  That should be Clarke.  Lexa makes sense only for her popularity.  Lincoln makes no sense at all.  Jasper with his goggles or smirky Murphy, make more sense to start with.

So, it may indeed be happening, but, considering what a tiny niche programme t1oo is (at this point, likely less than 1m viewers in the US), if they make them, it will be a ‘limited exclusive.’  But who knows – if they are made, probably won’t see them until Spring.

Can’t imagine them being any better than the fan-made ones, though.

unicyclehippo:

anyway i was just thinking abt clarke & lexa in the context of like, aus? & soul mates & stuff like that & they’re really the only pairing that i’ve ever felt compelled to be like yeah this is possible They Are Soulmates, if there are parallel & alternate universes i would anticipate that in their reality they would be a couple in each of them bc like. when u think abt it, the odds of them ever meeting & the odds of them looking past every reason to kill the other or whatever, the odds of them ending up as a couple are so so sO slim. except. EXCEPT if u consider the fact that they felt so much for the other?? like if its just an ordinary love then idk maybe they would have ignored it entirely?? maybe nothing would have happened?? but like they felt something that couldn’t be denied or ignored & i’ve never seen that before?? not in a way that actually Meant something to me?? so like. when u consider the odds of them ending up together, realistically they are very small but then when u factor in this way that they feel for the other, then its literally like the odds are close to 100% theres no way that they aren’t soulmates

What the fans saw vs. what the show actually gave.

The potential wasted because it wasn’t the story they were telling.

Bah humbug.

In the midst of all the doom and gloom, watched a couple episodes of Caprica – and was hit with how much The 1oo must have tried to borrow from this short-lived prequel to Battlestar Galactica (as well as BSG itself), and how much stronger the world-building was, how much detail was given in two short seasons vs. the narratively cluttered, scientifically mystifying and tragically underdeveloped world of the Grounders and the Arkers (granted, half of it based on a YA series).

If you’ve never seen it, please look out for it on DVD (is it on Netflix or…?) and have a look.  Very sorry it was cancelled too soon.

Xena and Buffy fans – the show was developed/produced by Xena producer David Eick and Buffy writer Jane Espenson.

Bear McCreary’s score still gives me chills.

Thank you so much for answering my Lexa questions! will you post your analysis soon? I also wuld like to know if you think Lexa will be brought up this season? even a little? i cant’ believe theyd just forget her.

You are welcome and I am still working on it (though I’ve been posting bits of it here and there, so…).  I’m sure ‘Heda’ will be brought up, as an important figure in Grounder society, finding a new one might hold some narrative time (but who knows).  I cannot picture Lexa even being mentioned.  We might get a hint of Clarke in mourning, but it will be generalised, as there is so much to mourn for. Unlike Octavia, who wears Lincoln’s tattoo as war paint, I don’t even think Clarke will be in possession of the ‘flame’ for long, much less keep any other memento. I’d like to be wrong, but if Jroth won’t even discuss Lexa, I doubt he’ll write about her any further.  Spiting the audience that gave him so much would not surprise me.
