The Book of Names lists each person murdered at Auschwitz
There is no monument more powerful and achingly sad…
Ancestry dot com is a company that is amassing a collection of DNA samples in order to ‘help’ people identify their genetic ancestry.
I can’t even begin to think how such a database could be used to target people of a particular genetic ancestry in order to eliminate them. Not as if anyone cares about that sort of thing, right? Perfectly harmless.
It’s 2018 and there’s no new Xena on the horizon, but be glad all those 80s American programmes about self-involved heterosexuals are coming back, though not one single person asked for them.
Xena fans have been campaigning for nearly 20 years.
Can’t think of a single reason why this wildly popular, queer female hero hasn’t been brought back.
I feel like I should create a Kisses series that features a type of missed Clexa kiss in each installment until every single one of these is explored and treasured.
one thing that has always bothered me about theatre, and broadway especially, is that ever since i was little theatre has always been “a girl’s things”. it’s shown as girly and young boys who are interested in theatre are assumed to be gay or are made fun of. and yet, in major theatre productions, you hardly ever see women. women aren’t known producers, they aren’t recognized playwrights and composers, and plays- mostly musicals- hardly ever have more than two female characters in the spotlight. it’s yet another “girl’s thing” that’s dominated by men.
just like women are expected to be great chefs at home but most of the worlds master chefs are men
just like teaching K-12 (which is part child care) is seen as women’s work but the university level is dominated by men in tenured positions
just like high fashion has a shit ton of male designers who are considered “elite” but most men would ask their wives to sew a button their shirts
Just like men “make art” and women “do crafts”
One way to combat the problem is to promote the works of women writers and producers.
The website, The Kilroys is built around promoting the works of women (including trans women) playwrights.
The biggest thing to do? Attend their plays. Write about them. If you’re at university or teach or work in administration in a school system, encourage young women to write and submit their work.
If we’re not out there encouraging women, very little changes. And keep in mind, too, if it’s hard for women out there, that usually translates as ‘white’ women and WOC have it 100x worse.
Read them, write to them, watch them, tell everyone you know.
Just wanting to give a wave of thanks and gratitude for all here over the past two years, especially Relickru – best wishes to you all for this year, may it get better. Be seeing you.

My Box
I tried the Platinum sub box out and was really happy with it. I ordered two items, the Emotichew and the Kiki Comforter.
Emotichew –
This is one of my all time favourite products! It’s a chewable bracelets with two sides, a green “talk to me!” side and a ‘Leave me be!” side which you can flip between as needed. This is great for communicating how you’re feeling very quickly and easily and is especially great for anyone who is ever non-verbal. I use mine pretty much constantly to let my family know how I feel or if I’m not up to communicating outloud, and they find it helpful as well! The writing is also quite subtle, etched in to the bracelet at opposed to printed on it, and so it can look just like a cool red/green band if needed (excuse my hairy arms).
KiKi Comforter –
This is one of Chewigem’s new, non-chewable products and wow am I impressed. It’s a multitextured fiddle blanket!
This is so so soft, baby toy soft, which is great for me but those adverse to super soft fabrics may want to avoid. One of the sides is entirely smooth and the other has little textured bumps on it that are great for tactile feedback and really soothing to run my hand over. It also has little orange and grey taggies around the edge for fiddling with and, I found, they are also perfect for attaching other fiddle items to.
The best bit? The fabric is printed with different emotion faces to help you learn the different expressions. It can also be used to communicate by pointing at how you feel or for reference, by comparing other faces to the ones on the fabric.
If anyone is interested in a Chewigem giveaway, let me know!! Happy stimming!
