The military spends five times as much on Viagra as it would on transgender troops’ medical care

msmayhem1515:

I actually pointed this out in a Facebook ‘discussion’ with straight veterans and I got told that this was a lie, and that Viagra was a medical necessity and that trans health care was optional. And then I got called cruel and hysterical for trying to say straight reproductive medical expenses for fertility were not more important than trans health care.

I don’t think social media is the cause of my current troubles. It’s just cranked them to 11. If the virtual world is, as I believe, just the real world coming at you faster and more thoroughly, then my issues with it are simply my day-to-day issues amplified. I like to observe people to get a better idea of how to belong with them, so I obsessively read every tweet and post and comment and link that comes across my feeds in a misguided attempt to understand everyone. I want to be a good person, but I’m so hard on myself that I often end up overwhelming myself with information and external and internal criticism and freezing. I struggle with hyper-empathy, and end up taking in everyone’s emotions in a way that makes me feel like a permeable membrane — or like Star Trek: The Next Generation’s regularly embattled Deanna Troi during a particularly harrowing episode. I’m often too overwhelmed to post anything thoughtful or meaningful in the wake of a tragedy, but I also don’t want to give people the impression that I don’t care about these things. And the “why isn’t everyone posting about ____” posts always seem to hit before I’ve had the chance to process. Social media was, in theory, supposed to be a respite from all of that. But being myself on there also means there’s no escaping myself on there.

Don’t ever hesitate. Reblog this. TUMBLR RULE. When you see it, REBLOG IT.

queeranarchism:

A lot of people said it in January, let’s say it again: the large number of laws and measures that attack transgender people is a deliberate attempt to devide the LGBT community. Republicans know that a lot of cisgender LGB people won’t raise a finger to help transgender people or will actively support transphobic measures, which is why they’re attacking transgender people first and hardest. They will come for gay rights once they have sufficiently devided the LGBT movement. So if you care about gay rights, what you need to do right now is fight like hell for transgender rights.

BREAKING:  Trump bans transgender individuals from serving in the military

  • Trump announced Wednesday he is banning transgender individuals from serving in the military “in any capacity” — a surprise announcement that is sure to draw condemnation from LGBTQ groups.
  • “After consultation with my generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. military,” Trump tweeted shortly after 9 a.m. This is a developing story (7/26/17 9:15 AM)

So…he’s just issuing this from his Twitter throne?  That’s how it works now?

Marches and protests won’t cut it, America.

Watch from 1:27 mins in. This isn’t what I was looking for but it will do just fine in showcasing just how accepting and encouraging the entire cast and crew were in showing a romantic relationship between the two lead characters. Lucy and Renee, initially surprised and shocked, seemed to go with it straight away. For the fans. For the people who felt like they needed that representation to be who they are unashamedly. To feel like it wasn’t wrong or inappropriate. This show gave them that and that’s why I’ll always defend it.

They went in. Completely. Lucy went to lesbian bars to watch the show with the patrons. Renée and Lucy went to the Australian Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras in Sydney 1999.

So not only did the cast and crew accept and respect that part of the show’s fandom. They went out of their way to be supportive.

The Xena fandom was a wonderful thing to be a part of – still is, actually.
