Xena nonny here hi again how are you doing? I’m starting to think they won’t bring her back & people are starting to give up. This makes me so sad. We need Xena!

NBC has shown no interest in this property:  we’ve seen no new licensing for collectibles, though she’s a prime property for nostalgia investors. There’s been zero media interest (Wonder Woman/Supergirl is all the chatter) and no announcements since JGM spoke about leaving t1oo to work on his own show (implied to be Xena) last summer.

It’s always a possibility, and WW could be damming up the works, pushing a reboot further and further out. Maybe write to Rob Tapert or JGM and see if you get a response.  Sorry it makes you sad – have you read the recent Xena comics? The quality of the art varies, but the story was quite good. I suggest having a look.  Take care.

Hi! Xena nonny here again i’m tooting mad about no Xena FUNKO dolls too can’t believe we don’t have em and can’t believe no news no talk nothing about the reboot. Have you seen anything? it’s like tumbleweeds out here.

No, I’ve not seen any updates on the reboot, if it’s even still happening. No news, though, sometimes, can be good news. Keep in mind with all the hype around the new Wonder Woman film, it’s possible NBC doesn’t want to muddle a potential new Xena franchise. They could very well be waiting to see how WW takes off then go ahead with a new Xena. But who knows? It might be in production hell for all we know.

Hi i’m your movie anon back do you like any documentaries i like some films about real people like Mozart I love Amadeus and films like Boys Don’t Cry. i think I watch comedies more than anything like Pixar movies.

I do like some documentaries, though I’ve not seen too many recently that I would recommend. If you are interested in music, look for 32 Films About Glenn Gould – it’s not a doc, though it has elements of one (interviews with people who knew him), instead it tries to look at Gould as Gould might have looked at himself, after death. He used to make radio documentaries (one features in the film is The Idea of North) where he overlapped voices talking about various and esoteric things and this film brings his creative spirit to mind. Quiet, contemplative, snapshots of a life.

I do like some Pixar films, but I find women woefully underrepresented. The boys club gets a little tiring.

ok so hi i don’t know if you remember when you wrote this but you said something about eliza last summer placating the fans like instead of being a clexa stan or something. after seen the unity days stuff today i think i agree with that but did you mean she’s not a stan?

I do remember. Personally, I don’t ‘get’ stanning. It does suggest to me a little more than just being a casual fan of something (and I know it doesn’t apply to everyone who refers to themselves as ‘stans’), maybe, for some, to the point of it being a little unhealthy. Obsessive, perhaps.

One of the most heartbreaking points about the Lexa issue is so many fans who felt invalidated by it.  I think Miss Taylor recognised that and sought to comfort. I don’t think that makes her a ‘stan.’  I’m not really interested in the UD con since it is a promotional event, and I think anything the actors say should be taken with a pinch of salt. Clexa fans who are looking for validation or something to hang on to – I wish there was some way to help them let go (not of what they love, just the pain the show has given them).

heylo so i was reading your theory on season 4 for the 100 and i like your take on this but not sure if you were serious. do you think they’ll just sail off with Luna? i’m reaading more spoilers that they go underground again or everybody dies.

I think you’re referring to this one

I was mostly serious, but obviously much of that is very general and maybe a little snarky, too.  I do think it likely that, with Luna coming back, they will have to make a show of her clan and what they are capable of and getting away from ‘the Grounders’ is a likely plan to leave behind a troublesome storyline they never took the time to explore anyway (also: Lexa reminders).  Sailing off somewhere just seems logical to me.  There’s already been talk about ‘who gets to live’ and if they only have so many ships, that makes sense, too.  I think it does make sense as well, that if they do not get a 5th series, watching them sail off to their new home (or arriving there), would be a decent way to end, and if they do somehow manage to get a 5th, they’ll be able to rebuild, as it were, in a new location that will, no doubt, have it’s own dangers.

I’m sure there will be a lot of convoluted drama to get to that point, and more wasted potential – but that’s par for the course.

I did have a much earlier thought about them going underground, mimicking Mt. Weather (they’d been compared to the Mt. men), and perhaps there will be some who will go that route.  Good news for you: won’t have to wait long to find out what happens.

I’m your movie person back & yes I like movies from the 1940s like old war movies but i guess i mean any kind of older movies? like even from when you were a kid? what did you watch?

I like some old war films, or films that are set in war-times, but now that it’s brought up, can’t think of one off the top of my head. I think I’ve talked about The Remains of the Day before, it’s pre-WWII, but a sharp insight into ‘well-meaning British upper class’ who helped the Nazis might be something to review today.

The films I watched as a teen (I didn’t go to the cinema often, it was too much, but found most of these films later on video), were things that grew out of Monty Python, for example, like The Holy Grail or Life of Brian or Time Bandits.  I loved Brazil. There’s never been a lot of great hard science fiction on film, I did like Dune, Alien, the original cast Star Trek films were good. I liked anything kind of surreal or offbeat like Dreamchild, or Labyrinth.  I didn’t really relate to any of the 80s American teen stuff, though I did like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.  There’s a Scottish filmmaker named Bill Forsythe who made a lot of films I loved, like Gregory’s Girl and Local Hero and Comfort and Joy. I blame the latter for an early interest in wanting to go into radio.

What are your films? What are you looking to watch?

Ok, your Lexa anon here AGAIN THANK YOU for the reblog on your Lexa discourse! i mean it hurts on one hand b/c so many fans see her in a way the show didn’t like you said, but its like Alycia said too she belongs to us now and isn’t that better? idkw people want her back on that show. NO NO NO. just thank you and plss write more!

You are welcome and sorry to be so behind on posting. I understand why some want to see Lexa return, even if just for closure, but they’re taking this campaign to the very people who thought killing Lexa and manipulating/abusing their audience over her death was a good thing.  They took a shite over these fans, over something they loved, and have shown no care for them since.  We don’t beg our abusers to abuse us more.  Lexa (and all characters like her) are better off with fan writers who see all the potential vs. those who only know how to write themselves up chimneys.

I think the writing (on the show) for Lexa was queerbaiting from the beginning, from the first kiss (done for ratings), to villainising her in the s2 finale (an absurd twist). I don’t believe they ever intended to bring her back in s3 as Clarke’s love interest, but they saw what the fans had made of her and how the show gained popularity from it and they used that for their own benefit. They concocted a half-arsed storyline making her a chivalrous romantic hero-type doomed to die (for no good reason). They knew about the trope, they knew the fans loved her, they knew this fanbase was bringing them glory – and they threw it all away. They didn’t care.  So – fuck ‘em.
