Xena nonny here hi again how are you doing? I’m starting to think they won’t bring her back & people are starting to give up. This makes me so sad. We need Xena!

NBC has shown no interest in this property:  we’ve seen no new licensing for collectibles, though she’s a prime property for nostalgia investors. There’s been zero media interest (Wonder Woman/Supergirl is all the chatter) and no announcements since JGM spoke about leaving t1oo to work on his own show (implied to be Xena) last summer.

It’s always a possibility, and WW could be damming up the works, pushing a reboot further and further out. Maybe write to Rob Tapert or JGM and see if you get a response.  Sorry it makes you sad – have you read the recent Xena comics? The quality of the art varies, but the story was quite good. I suggest having a look.  Take care.

Hi! Xena nonny here again i’m tooting mad about no Xena FUNKO dolls too can’t believe we don’t have em and can’t believe no news no talk nothing about the reboot. Have you seen anything? it’s like tumbleweeds out here.

No, I’ve not seen any updates on the reboot, if it’s even still happening. No news, though, sometimes, can be good news. Keep in mind with all the hype around the new Wonder Woman film, it’s possible NBC doesn’t want to muddle a potential new Xena franchise. They could very well be waiting to see how WW takes off then go ahead with a new Xena. But who knows? It might be in production hell for all we know.

Honestly tho

xenasmanyskills:

You know there’s no way in hell, heaven, hades, Valhalla or any other afterlife that any of the above would take Xena in after she’d:

1) Made the Olympians an endangered species.
2) Waged a war on heaven that she was well on her way to winning (before she was ‘miraculously’ thrown the fuck back out)
3) Created Satan.

A god or guardian of any denomination of death would take one look at her, recognize her as Xena God-Killer, Destroyer Of Everything That Looks At Her Funny, Fucking Mother Of Satan and deliver her straight back to the only being in existence who can control her (i.e. Gabrielle) with a lovely hand-written note about how it would be a crime against love to separate them because they’re tied with bonds that transcend death (and also pls don’t let her kill us thx)

Reason #3,341 why that finale was BS.

Hi there another old timer Xena fan! So so so good to read you remember all the oldie fan writers. I remember reading the apocalypse books and devastated it was never finished! Brigit Morgan was a wonder. it would have made a great film. Thanks for sharing your memories!

Hello fellow oldtimer. 😉  The Apocalypse series is one of the great, tragically unfinished works of fan art. She wrote some brutal ‘uber’ pieces as well.  Would love to know if some of these writers like Morgan are still about, still writing, maybe repost their works.  They deserve an audience today, especially younger fans who want more of these stories and can’t find them.

I sometimes think that, amongst many other things we were robbed of by the Xena finale, we never got a scene with Xena and Gabrielle arguing over who the chakram belongs to now.

Because you know that would take up an entire episode where they bicker as they get lost trying to find their way off the mountain, hear about some other wild shenanigans they need to get in the middle of (whilst still bickering) and, ultimately, a good soak in a hidden hot springs where they both realise not only the depth of their feelings for one another, but that they are both stuck in the literal mud and where is Argo when you need her?

i’m your xena anon thanking you for finding that post and i found the others too. are you going to write about the new show or are you more for the old one? who do you think could be a new xena?

You are welcome.  I’ve no idea if the new show is even happening or not at this point, it’s now been a little over a year since they announced a new showrunner and nothing has gone forward, far as I know.  I would certainly watch if it came about and very likely would write about it.

I’ve a very hard time imagining anyone other than Lucy Lawless in the part and I can see casting a new Xena must be something of a nightmare.  How do you match her physicality, humour, charisma?  She owned it so completely.

I’d really hoped they would do a short series with Lawless and O’Connor, set 15 years after the finale, do something fun to bring her back then carefully transition into a new time period, reiterating their ‘soulmate’ status with a new Xena and Gabrielle, maybe in a post-dystopian future where a new ‘Rome’ and a new ‘Amazon nation’ arise.  Similar themes and characters, but a new look.  I thought this would help make the transition for the audience much easier, as well as honouring the fandom that has waited so long and kept her alive when there was no show.

It will be nice to see if JGM’s version ever comes to light and how it will be handled (happy to give it a chance), but I worry that the sand-in-yer-sandals-with-swords is a bit overdone by now.
